I CAN Be Healthy is designed to address the issue of childhood nutrition through the encouragement of healthy eating and exercise.
Bite-size Exhibits include:
Farm - children will explore a working farm including planting crops, picking apples, milking a cow, gathering chicken eggs, and driving a tractor. Murals of modern farming will showcase farms in the community, highlighting the agricultural roots of North Mecklenburg.
Grocery Store - from the U-Scan lane to the Bakery and Floral Shop this authentic market experience will provide opportunities for little ones to sort, gather and enhance their literacy readiness. Pick up a shopping list to help plan a healthy lunch as you shop for ingredients or play the role of the cashier or deli staff.
Doctors Office - “doctors” will provide patients with a check-up as they examine eye sight, weight and height.
Cafe - selecting healthy foods from the Food Guide Pyramid will be the focus of this role playing experience as children and adults act as customers, chefs, wait staff and restaurant managers.
Fitness Center - everyone will be up and moving in this area filled with child-size exercise equipment, exercise videos and climbing wall.
What kind of things do you do to stay healthy?
