The I CAN Move exhibit area of Discovery Place KIDS-Huntersville is designed to provide children with the opportunity to experiment with movement on the land in the air and on the water. Authentic experiences in several modes of transportation: flight, trains, boats, cars and NASCAR will provide role playing experiences. Special experiment areas will provide opportunities to explore forces and motion through water and air power.
Plans include the following exhibits:
• Water Play - a real boat and lake murals will set the stage for experimentation with water. Try your hand at boat races, water wheels, pumps, and a lock and dam.
• Airport - climb the control tower climbing structure to reach the airport gate for check-in, baggage cart, security screening and a handicapped accessible bi-plane that will give you the feeling of taking off into the wild blue yonder
• Car Care Center - little mechanics will love working in this auto shop equipped with all the tools they need to perform maintenance on a kid-sized car mounted on a lift.
• NASCAR - experience the rumble of the engines as you try out a real race car. Our race day wall mural will set the stage for your pit crew role-playing adventure.
• Trains - you are the conductor and right in the middle of the action in this specially designed train table that includes model commuter rail.
• Science Exploration Stations—experiment with forces and motion as you send a ball on a roller coaster track and try your hand at building and racing your own race car. A science wonder cart will provide ever changing experiment activities.
