Children’s museums are cultural facilities that serve the needs and interests of children by providing exhibits and programs that stimulate curiosity and motivate learning. They provide play experiences that encourage children and adults to have fun while exploring together, and offer exhibit areas that focus on development of motor, communication and social skills while encouraging a love of learning.
Discovery Place KIDS
Discovery Place, Inc. strives to create innovative solutions to meet the needs of families in our ever growing region. Our community’s highest rates of residential growth and concentrations of families with young children are found in outlying municipalities such as Huntersville to the north, Matthews to the south, and counties surrounding Mecklenburg. Discovery Place is responding by developing a new museum model to meet the needs of families with children birth through second grade. Discovery Place KIDS, created by Discovery Place, Inc, will be a network of community-based children’s museums located in the fast-growing suburbs of Mecklenburg and the surrounding counties. Discovery Place KIDS aspires to maximize the whole child by providing extraordinary and rich play experiences that value imagination, fun and learning.
